Indian handicrafts is an art of making crafts by hand in India is called Indian handicrafts, in ancient India people lived in colonies called tribals and they were used to make utility items for their daily need, that art of making the crafts called handicrafts, and the items called handicrafts goods. Objects artistically made using simple traditional tools and by using conventional manual methods (e.g., wooden carvings, weaving, painting, printing textiles, metal works, leather works and the likes). The handloom and handicraft industry has been the backbone of India's rural economy for decades. It is one of the largest employment generators after agriculture, providing a key means of livelihood to the country's rural and urban population.
In a major step towards promoting these artisans and indigenous handicrafts of rural India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organizes the Yuva Kriti as part of the National Youth Festival on an annual basis. This is the 25th instance of the Yuva Kriti Event, 2021 Youth Festival Being a virtual one.
This year’s Yuva Kriti will exhibit 90 stalls from 36 States / UTs showcasing artifacts made out of textiles, wood, clay, soft and hard metals metals, etc.
A few exhibits are namely:- Jute Bags, Wooden Toys, Coffee, Honey & Millets, Rajwade Art, Matparai Painting Art, Bastar bell metal craft, Bandhani Saree, Suits, Dupattas & Dress Materials, Sketch Art on the given themes with cultural blend, Go-Kriti (Made of Cow Dung), Zardozi Embroidery, Kolhapuri Chappals.
